Creative Writing

Welcome to the Creative Writing page. Here you will find prose about the pandemic, describing authentic experiences of trying to manage the situation on a personal and domestic level.

Bog Off, Boris!

This was written after a few days of mandated ‘social distancing’ measures as an observation of the irony of a situation which is intended to protect us from the likelihood of contagion, but has resulted in us now living in far closer proximity to one another than before.

Asda Is Empty

I wrote this after an ill-fated shopping trip in mid-March. What I found most interesting was how people’s behaviours were very different depending on what their particular shopping mission was.

Sternutation Hysteria

This writing was the result of a rather unnerving experience in a local supermarket in early March, when people were just starting to feel rather jumpy about COVID-19. A silly situation which vaguely escalated for no logical reason.
